The Socorro Independent School District Department of School Counseling would like to invite high school students and their parents to the Virtual Preparing for College Forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 31, which will be conducted on Microsoft Teams.

During the virtual forum, high school counselors will share the importance of preparing for the transition to college.

Students will gain access to tools and resources they can use as they prepare to enter post-secondary education. The meeting also will provide important information about the college application process and financial aid.

Attendees will receive helpful tips on writing college essays, preparing for college interviews and more.

“We encourage all parents and students who dream of earning college degrees to join us for this event,” said Myra Ortega, coordinator for the Department of school Counseling. “We have valuable advice and tips on how to get the most out of your high school years, what types of classes to take, resume writing, and navigating the financial aid process.”
