On Oct. 17, Spectrum donated essential supplies to Desert Wind School, providing students with the tools they need to fully engage in the learning process.
The telecommunications company equipped the Colts with notebooks, glue sticks, coloring pencils, and other basic school supplies collected by employees.
Desert Wind School Principal Luis Carrillo said that many people in the community work at Spectrum, making this an excellent opportunity for them to positively impact the school.
“It’s awesome to know that a lot of the community members in this area work for Spectrum, and this is one of the ways they want to (give) back to the community,” Carrillo said.
Carrillo said the school’s parent liaison will distribute the supplies to the students who need them most.
Vanessa Limas, a coordinator at Spectrum, delivered the items to the school. She said the company has successfully partnered with the school on other events to benefit students. She emphasized that the school’s administrators, faculty and staff are very professional and very involved in helping students succeed.
“It’s a really nice experience to come here,” Limas said.
