Myrtle Cooper Elementary School is partnering with a local dd’s Discounts Store and First book for a Youth Literacy Fundraiser. Funds will be used to purchase books from First Book for the school.
During the Youth Literacy Fundraiser, customers at the dd's DISCOUNTS Store at 1327 George Dieter Dr., Suite B1, can donate to Myrtle Cooper at the point of sale from Aug. 3 to 25, 2024.
“We truly believe that instilling a love of reading at a young age fosters lifelong learning and opens doors to endless opportunities,” said Myrtle Cooper Principal Alicia Miranda. “Supporting our fundraiser means investing in the future our scholars in our community.”
Myrtle Cooper has been participating in the Youth Literacy Fundraiser since 2022. That year, they raised $1,369 to purchase books for the campus. In 2023, the campus raised $1,719. Thanks to their successful fundraising efforts, the school has distributed over 2,000 books to students through book giveaways before intersession and has given a book to each student for their birthday.
