PHHS advisor James Brown and student council

James Brown, student council advisor at Pebble Hills High School, has been named by District 9 of the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) as the 2023-2024 High School Advisor of the Year for the district.  He is a nominee for the TASC Eddie G. Bull State Advisor of the Year award.

Brown has been a student council advisor for 13 years and has guided his council to numerous Outstanding Student Council and Sweepstakes Awards. In addition, the Pebble Hills Student Council was named as a National Gold Council of Excellence. He sits on the District 9 Board of Directors, was a presenter at the TASC Advisors Workshop, and has served as a small group facilitator at several summer leadership workshops.

“Being named the TASC District 9 Advisor of the year means a lot to me because the award comes from the other student council advisors,” said Brown, who has been at Pebble Hills High School for three years. “I am fortunate to have a wonderful group of student leaders to work with. I am amazed at how much our students can grow as leaders when given the chance. I have a supportive administration that ensures that our council can capitalize on the opportunities given.”

Pebble Hills High School Principal Ivan Ramirez lauded Brown’s hard work and dedication to his students.

“He is one of the most intelligent and hard-working individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with,” Ramirez said. “He is dedicated to our students and our community and always does everything he can to provide amazing experiences for our students.”

TASC is the largest state student council organization in the United States with over 1200 member schools, each with a strong advisor; and Brown represents those outstanding council advisors across the state who give of their time and knowledge to ensure student success.
