Business Partner of the Year group photo with award

The Socorro Independent School District continued its time-honored tradition of honoring businesses and organizations for their outstanding support of the district at the annual SISD Partners in Education recognition this spring at the Starlight Event Center.

El Paso Animal Services was named Business Partner of the Year and Purple Heart Elementary School was recognized with the School Partnership of the Year award.

“We are so honored and so blessed to receive this award,” said Michelle Anderson, El Paso Animal Services marketing and public engagement manager about the partnership between the organization and SISD’s veterinary technology program. “We do this because we are proud to be supporters of education and we want to help build these students up to eventually go off and do some amazing things.”

Lisa Gutierrez, Purple Heart’s CIS program coordinator and parent and family engagement liaison, was nominated by Boss Tenders, Dogs and Custard, for the School Partnership of the year award.  

“I do it more for the students,” Gutierrez said. “I want the students to be happy and that they do know that they can succeed in life.”

The Education Empowerment Award Winners included Christmas Trails for Toys, Fort Bliss 1-43 ADA and Military - Bravo Company, 1-501st Attack Battalion, 1st Armored Division Combat Aviation Brigade. Team SISD Honor Roll Award Winners were America's Best Karate, Applebee's, El Paso Elks Lodge #187, Grand Canyon University, Little Caesar's Pizza, Peachwave of El Paso, Peter Piper Pizza, Rudy's Bar-B-Q, Special Olympics Area 19 and Whataburger.
