Purple Heart Elementary fourth-grade teacher Leslie Ponce was awarded free coffee for a year from Dunkin’ for winning the “Raise A Cup to Teachers” sweepstakes.
Ponce was celebrated by her peers Jan. 4 at the school during professional development training where Dunkin’ treated the teachers to a well-deserved break with free donuts and coffee.
She was the only representative selected in Texas and a winner in the first-ever round of the new sweepstakes.
Ponce was nominated by her sister a few months back and said she was surprised to win despite being a first-year teacher.
“I am thankful that I was selected as the Texas grand prize winner,” Ponce said. “I always strive to go above and beyond for my students. I love working with them and helping them reach their full potential.”
The “Raise A Cup to Teachers” Sweepstakes is Dunkin’s way of saying thank you to individuals who go above and beyond in the field of education.
Dunkin’ representatives said Ponce was selected for her passion and dedication to students.
“We are really excited to present this and on behalf of Dunkin’ Texas we wanted to thank you for all you do,” said Thomas O’Bright, a local Dunkin’ general manager.
