Socorro Independent School District sophomores, juniors and seniors will be able to explore future career prospects, including summer employment and internship opportunities, at the 8th annual College, Career and Job Expo from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. March 20 in the gyms at Montwood High School, 12000 Montwood Dr.
Students will meet with representatives from colleges, technical schools, and the military and network with local business and industry partners about future career opportunities. More than 50 employers, including the City of El Paso, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the El Paso Chihuahuas, are expected to attend along with 20 colleges from across the region.
“The expo is a great opportunity for our students to make a connection between what they are studying in our career technology pathways and work-based learning,” said Brenda Gonzalez, CTE business and industry coordinator at SISD. “Students can talk to someone about paid and non-paid internships, find summer employment and learn about post-educational opportunities.”
Students will get the chance to interview with potential employers for summer jobs and internships. El Paso Workforce will be accepting applications for summer training and for job placement.
Students should be ready to interview, bring resumes and dress to impress. The expo will feature a special guest, and raffle prizes will be given out. Please register at sisd.net/ccje.
