The mission of Communities in Schools of El Paso is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Communities in Schools is the nation's largest and most effective organization dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed in life. Since 1985, CIS has been the only dropout prevention program serving the El Paso area. Program Coordinators work with students in the areas of attendance, academics, behaviors, health and human services, and supportive guidance.

Everything that Communities In Schools does is guided by the “Five Basics.” Developed by our founder Bill Milliken, the Five Basics are a set of essentials that every child needs and deserves.

One-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
Safe place to learn and grow.
Healthy start and a healthy future.
Marketable skill to use upon graduation.
Chance to give back to peers and community.
