Socorro High School Principal Dr. Ignacio Estorga has been named the 2024-25 District IX Administrator of the Year by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) for District IX.
Estorga was surprised with the award at the District IX Spring Conference at Americas High School on Feb. 27. He was recognized for his unwavering support of the school’s student council initiatives.
“Our number one priority is our kids and that's what we work for,” Estorga said. “We give them these opportunities, and we get these type of accolades because of the work that they do.”
TASC District IX is a non-profit organization that serves middle and high schools in the El Paso area. The district includes the counties of El Paso, Hudspeth, Culberson, Jeff Davis, and Presidio. Its mission is to support student leadership in Texas.
Danika Luevano, a senior and president of Socorro High School student council, was excited to write a letter recommending Estorga for the prestigious award. She said that throughout her four years at the high school, Estorga has gone above and beyond to ensure that all students, teachers and staff feel appreciated and supported 100%.
“He really is concerned and is wonderful with all his students at the campus, starting from the freshmen to the seniors and with all the faculty, making sure everyone feels special in a way and is appreciated,” Luevano said.
