The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) recently recognized two Socorro Independent School District administrators with statewide honors.
Jonathan Flores, principal at Sgt. Roberto Ituarte Elementary School, has been named the 2024 Region 19 TEPSAN of the Year, and Angie Escobar, assistant principal of Paso Del Norte Fine Arts Academy, has been awarded the 2024 Region 19 Assistant Principal of the Year.
Members from 20 TEPSA regions across the state recognized Flores for his outstanding service to the association, his commitment to advancing principalship and the association, and his ability to serve as a voice for Texas students.
"Thank you so much for this incredible honor of being recognized as TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals Supervisor Association,” Flores said. “I am truly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve and support our dedicated educators and students. This recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts of every single principal in our region and the work they do for public education. Together, we will continue striving for excellence and fostering a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.”
The Region 19 Assistant Principal of the Year award is a peer-based award that recognizes assistant principals from the 20 TEPSA Regions, such as Escobar, for their commitment to student learning as evidenced by exceptional school leadership.
One TEPSA Region AP of the Year will be selected as the 2024 National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas.
“It is such a wonderful honor to be named TEPSA Region 19 AP of the Year,” Escobar said. “TEPSA is an incredible organization full of amazing administrators throughout our region and state, and to be recognized amongst my peers is beyond belief. I have been truly blessed to work with amazing kids, remarkable teachers and inspiring leaders that enable me to share my passion for education and push me to be my best.”
Honorees will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Dinner June 12 at the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Round Rock, Texas.
