High school students, families and communities in the Socorro Independent School District showed their school spirit, energy and excitement this fall at numerous homecoming festivities. Celebrations included dress up days, pep rallies, parades, football games, and school dances. Read more about the homecoming celebrations below.
Americas High School celebrated its homecoming week with the theme of "Life in the Playhouse" Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.
The homecoming parade was Aug. 30 followed by the school's annual carnival in the Americas courtyard. The homecoming pep rally took place during school hours on Aug. 31. The homecoming game was Aug. 31 at the SAC against Odessa High School. The school's homecoming dance "A Night in the Dreamhouse" was Sept. 1 at the school.
Analucia Miranda, a senior at Americas High School and member of the Blazerettes Dace Team, said she was excited and a little sad as the celebrations mark a last for her high school career.
“I’m trying to enjoy every little moment,” Miranda said. “It’s very heart warming to see everyone come out to support our school and show their spirit.”

Eastlake High School celebrated its homecoming week with the theme of "Upon A Time” Sept. 11 to 16.
The homecoming parade was Sept. 13. The homecoming community pep rally was Sept. 13 on the Eastlake sports field and the student pep rally was Sept. 15. The Falcons beat the Coronado High School Thunderbirds 34-21 at their homecoming game Sept. 15 at the SAC. The school's homecoming dance was Sept. 16 in the school’s patio.
Teresa Acosta, said she attended that parade to show support for her niece, who is a cheerleader at Mission Ridge Elementary School.
“We are here to support the Eastlake feeder,” Acosta said. “We look forward to seeing the kids happy and the creative floats.”

El Dorado High School celebrated its homecoming week with its Disney theme, "Once Upon a Homecoming," Oct. 23 to 28.
The homecoming parade was Oct. 25 followed by the school's tradition of the Birth of the Aztec Sun in the marching band parking lot. The homecoming game was Oct. 27 at the SAC against Montwood High School. The school's homecoming dance was Oct. 28 in the school’s courtyard.
Andres Gil, a junior at El Dorado High School, said he had fun with his friends and was happy the community came out to show their support.
“As a junior I am looking forward more to these kinds of events,” Gil said. “I’m having a lot of fun today.”

Mission Early College High School celebrated its homecoming week with the theme of “A Night in Paris” Sept. 5 to 8.
The school’s homecoming dance was Sept. 8 at The Grand Palace Ballroom, and the homecoming pep rally was Sept. 15 in the school’s faculty parking lot, and the.
Andrea Moreno, a senior, said it was great to see everyone energized and united.
“I enjoyed our entrance walk into the pep rally,” Moreno said. “It’s great to see everyone having so much fun and sharing that moment.”

Montwood High School celebrated its homecoming week with a theme of " Ram Fam Luau” Sept. 11 to 16.
The homecoming parade was Sept. 13. The homecoming pep rally was Sept. 14. The Rams beat the Socorro High School Bulldogs 41-21 at their homecoming game Sept. 14 at the SAC. The school's homecoming dance was Sept. 16 at the school.
Valerie Papa said she came from out of town to support her brother, Alex Papa, who is the quarterback for the Montwood football team.
“El Paso has always been really friendly so it’s just fun to see the entire community come out together,” said Papa, who is a Montwood graduate from the Class of 2015. “When my brother and the team are playing their homecoming game, they need all the cheers they can get.”

Pebble Hills High School celebrated its homecoming week with the theme of “A Superhero Homecoming” Sept. 25 to 30.
The homecoming parade was Sept. 27. A pep rally took place Sept. 29 and the homecoming game was Sept. 29 at the SAC against Americas High School. The school's homecoming dance “A Night in Gotham” was Sept. 30 in the school’s courtyard.
“Today is our homecoming parade and it’s great to see everyone participating,” Olivia Jimenez, a senior at Pebble Hills High School and the 2024 class president. “I love to see all the school spirit.”

Socorro High School celebrated its homecoming week with the theme of “Alice in Wonderland” Oct. 16 to 21.
The homecoming parade was Oct. 19 and the football game was Oct. 20 at the SAC against El Dorado High School. The school’s homecoming dance was Oct. 21 in the school’s cafeteria.
Michael Duran, a senior and the student council vice president, said he loves how big and fun the homecoming events are because Socorro is a community based on tradition. He said he will miss that once he graduates.
“It’s getting to me that this is my last time celebrating homecoming,” Duran said. “So, I hope we can make this homecoming the best there is for myself and the other graduating seniors.”
