MISSION

AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society

HURSHEL ANTWINE MIDDLE SCHOOL’S FOCUS

• Provide AVID Scholars a support system. 

• Curriculum based on WICOR. 

• Foster academic success by providing college tutors. 

• Participate in team building activities.

• Promote self-advocacy, leadership and public speaking skills. 

• Attend field trips that provide real-world experiences at high school and college/university campuses. 

• Provide guest speakers.

AVID SCHOLAR REQUIREMENTS

• Enroll in a minimum of one Advanced course 

• Maintain an 80 or above GPA in all classes 

• Maintain satisfactory Citizenship and Attendance 

• Complete Annual Community Service Hours
