Reading Challenge Graphic

As part of this year’s National Education Association's Read Across America Week, Socorro ISD is launching a new initiative to inspire students, teachers and staff to read more than ever before.

The Superintendent’s Reading Challenge is encouraging Team SISD to read a total of FIVE million minutes as a district by the end of the 2024-25 school year.

All SISD students and employees are invited to participate.

To keep track of all this reading, the district will use Beanstack, an interactive and fun reading platform. Participants can log their reading time, track their progress, and earn fun badges. Please visit the Socorro ISD Beanstack web page to get started. You can click on your school link to sign in and log your reading.

Team SISD is fully committed to achieving this goal with enthusiasm, dedication, and effort. Together, SISD students, teachers and staff will work to reach FIVE million minutes by actively reading, supporting each other, and celebrating reading achievements.

One way Team SISD will celebrate is by awarding the school that reads the most minutes each month with a Special Superintendent’s Traveling Trophy!

Team SISD is launching the Superintendent’s Reading Challenge in conjunction with the NEA’s Read Across America. SISD board trustees, the interim superintendent, and an SISD instructional aide/author have read books on video to share with students and encourage the joy of reading.
