8 SISD schools on ERP Texas Honor Roll logos

Eight schools in the Socorro Independent School District were named to the Educational Results Partnership Texas Honor Roll for outstanding student performance and closing achievement gaps.

The ERP Honor Roll has existed for a decade and is administered and awarded annually by ERP and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE), in partnership with the Texas Business Leadership Council. The program uses Texas state assessment data to recognize schools that are outperforming their peers in student outcomes and closing achievement gaps.

The SISD schools that earned a spot on the prestigious honor roll are Col. John O. Ensor Middle School, Horizon Heights Elementary, Lujan-Chavez Elementary, Loma Verde Elementary, Bill Sybert School, Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary, Sgt. Jose F. Carrasco Elementary, and Cactus Trails Elementary.

The 2023 Texas Honor Roll schools were announced in June 2024 and were recognized based on their STAAR assessments for the 2022-2023 school year.

The annual ERP Honor Roll is part of the national Campaign for Business and Education Excellence. The Campaign engages business leaders in recognizing successful schools and educational systems that are preparing students with the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the workforce and in life, according to the ERP website.

This ERP honor roll is the only school recognition program presented in partnership with state and local business leaders, using solely objective student achievement data as the criteria for recognition. The goal of the Honor Roll is to find and highlight successful schools and districts and encourage collaboration among educators on best practices for raising student achievement.

The program uses Texas state assessment data to recognize schools that are outperforming their peers in student outcomes and closing achievement gaps.

Schools receiving the Honor Roll designation are among the highest performing schools in Texas. They are recognized for their performance overall and in closing achievement gaps for students of various backgrounds. This recognition acknowledges the hard work done by staff and students at the school and provides a vehicle for the business-led organizations to celebrate and recognize schools that are teaching the skills employers value and are looking for in the workforce.
