Students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in Socorro ISD and across the region have been placed in a cohort where they are allowed to work together since the late 90s at Montwood High School. Biomedical Engineering became the focus. Over time the magnet program has been split into 2 specialties: Engineering and Biomedical Science.

Biomedical Science and Education students take a variety of elective courses, participate in extracurricular activities together, and participate in advanced math and science throughout their four (4) years at Montwood High School.
