Engineering forms the cornerstone of SYNERGI since its inception. While the specialty for our academy started with Biomedical Engineering, the areas of study were split into two and the Engineering program has continued to expand.
While engineering students continue to take advantage of Montwood High School's Dual Credit opportunities, most Engineering students focus on completing their degrees by taking a variety of courses related to their interests, and not necessarily on obtaining an Associate's degree (though they can take as many as 45 college-credit hours and AP classes that can lead to college credit.
Engineering students take courses in the Engineering Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum.
1) Introduction to Engineering Design
2) Digital Electronics
3) Engineering Science
4) Engineering Design and Development
Embedded in the PLTW program, students will have the opportunity to earn a CAD certification in SolidWorks/Fusion 360. SolidWorks and Fusion 360 are two of the leading CAD software programs currently used in industry and most college engineering programs. CAD is the use of computers to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design.
