Gaining college, career, life skills through CTE, advanced academies
Team SISD’s Career and Technical Education program assures students graduate from high school prepared for college, careers and life. Through the combination of college preparation and workforce skills, CTE students earn thousands of industry-recognized certifications annually in nationally recognized programs. In 2023-2024, 2,551 CTE students in Socorro ISD earned 3,415 state-approved industry-recognized certifications showing proof they are ready with the skills and knowledge to succeed in the workforce. SISD offers 14 state-recognized and 16 nationally identified career clusters with 45 pathways in specialized instruction. The district also offers six Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools offered in partnership with El Paso Community College and two dual credit pathways offered through Texas State Technical College. In addition, every comprehensive high school in SISD offers an advanced academics academy to give real-world experiences and specialized classes and training. Students in these academies have the opportunity to earn dual credit and participate in intensive internships. The advanced academies give SISD high school students the opportunity to delve into architecture and international studies at El Dorado High School; health professions at Socorro High School; law and government at Americas High School; business and finance at Pebble Hills High School; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) at Montwood High School; or computer science at Eastlake High School.
